Walkin’ in LA
In 1982, Missing Persons had it right. No one walks in LA! Welcome to the West Coast edition of What Matters. Our Chief Strategy Officer, Jason, is in LA for the winter looking at opportunities for expansion and driving to the many design studios to source beautiful furniture and accessories for our clients in metro DC. From modern vintage, to European modern, to American handcrafted, LA has it all (including parking lots
for the 6.5 million drivers).

A Stitch in Time
Dmitriy & Co is a modern furniture and upholstery atelier dedicated to timeless design and exquisite craftsmanship. The brand’s history of producing bespoke furnishings can be traced back to the Lower East Side of New York, where artisanal mastery was hard earned over three generations. The compulsion to design and create by hand serves as a vehicle of artistic expression and pays homage to an age-old craft that
remains embedded in our culture.
We had the fortune to tour Dmitriy & Co’s atelier in Los Angeles to witness their custom to-the-trade pieces being handmade and hand-stitched. It’s all in the quality of the details.
Take a Hike
While Angelinos don’t walk much in the city, they hike miles and miles above the city. Enjoy the images below from a recent hike to Griffith Park in the Hollywood Hills. From the Art Deco Griffith Observatory, you can see from downtown Los Angeles to the Pacific Ocean. The land and money to build the observatory were donated by Griffith J. Griffith (no joke) in 1896.
On the Boards
Featured this week is our #IMTotallyRadnorProject. These clients are empty nesters with 3 grown children out of the house. They have a colorful art collection and a love for mid-century modern pieces. They want a kitchen with a “refined rustic” style, while still incorporating bright pops of color. With this in mind, our design team combined different colors, textures, and finishes to create a space for the family that felt relaxed, bright, and timeless.
